In legal settings, having an accurate interpretation of a situation is extremely important. The repercussions of having poorly translated contracts or ineptly interpreted depositions can be immense. For these and other legal situations, the assistance of qualified interpreters and translators is not only helpful but mandated by law in the United States (Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990).

They’re trained to uphold strict codes of ethical practice imposed by state and federal courts, and many may also hold interpreting certifications for certain languages, depending on their state’s provision of such credentials.
